The network of Bice Restaurants spanning around the world today, began in 1926 in Milan. Beatrice Ruggeri - Bice to her family and friends- was known for her extraordinary hospitality and personal warmth. For years she was encouraged to open her cucina to the public. The Bank of Washington started with six community friends who knew our community needed a strong, safe and reliable bank. With the trust of the people, they founded the bank in 1877, and well over a century later, we are still holding strong and strive to continue to offer you the best financial opportunities, trust and service you could ever imagine. The Bank of Washington was first opened on November 2, 1877 in a three-story building on the south side of Main Street between Oak and Lafayette Streets in Washington, Missouri. The bank rents the space until it builds a new building in 1880. The old building then becomes the home to Robert Voss’ Washington Bazaar and Kruel’s Racket Store. By 1917 The Bank of Washington reports over $1 million in assets. In 1923, the bank moved to its current location on the southwest corner of Main and Oak street and built a two-story state of the art facility in a classic Greek style. The site was previously home to the Otto and Breckenkamp store. They were the first in the state to incorporate a walk-up teller window in 1954 and the second to have a drive-up window by 1959.
